Penn State faculty can obtain the following video series for classroom use either from the Statistics Department main office or from the Audio-Visual Services (AVS) office.  Videos obtained from the Statistics Department must be signed out in 326 Thomas.  There are several ways of getting information on obtaining videos and equipment from the AVS Office:  go to the the web page, e-mail to mtssmed@psulias.psu.edu , phone locally 865-6314, phone long distance (800) 826-0132, or fax (814) 863-2574.  Note that you need to contact AVS several days in advance to schedule equipment for classrooms that do not already have a VCR.
  • Against All Odds: Inside Statistics.  A 26-part video series developed by the Consortium for Mathematics and Its Applications.  The series explains statistical procedures by stressing data-centered topics rather than the more traditional path from probability to formal inference.  Copyrighted 1989.  Submitted by Patricia Buchanan.
  • For all Practical Purposes: Statistics.   A 5-part video series developed by the Consortium for Mathematics and its Applications.  The series focuses on the value of mathematics as a problem-solving tool in statistics.  Copyrighted 1985 and 1986.  Submitted by Patricia Buchanan.
  • Communication Skills in Statistical Consulting.  A 4-part videos series developed by Janice Derr and Ann Greeley.  The series is a training package designed for use by graduate students in statistical consulting courses.  Copyrighted 1989.  Submitted by Patricia Buchanan.
