The Pennsylvania State University, Fall 2004
This course introduces students to the art and science
of decision-making in the presence of uncertainty. In taking this
course, students will develop an understanding of the reasoning by
which findings from sample data can be extended to larger, more general
populations. Students will also learn how to evaluate critically the
results of studies reported in the popular media and scientific press.
Examples and applications from a variety of fields will be
emphasized.
