The Statistical
Consulting Center for Astronomy (SCCA) is a team of Penn State faculty with
interest and expertise in statistical problems arising
in astronomical research. The principal members of the
SCCA are Professors Michael Akritas and James
Rosenberger from the Department of Statistics, and Eric
Feigelson from the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics.
Supported
by grants from NASA from 1994-1996 and 1997-2000, the
center's goals are to:
- address
the immediate statistical needs of astronomers
by providing prompt
high-quality statistical advice;
- make publicly
available questions and answers for the benefit
of the wider astronomical
community; and
- encourage interdisciplinary
collaboration between the fields of statistics
and astronomy.
