Students interested in the Biostatistics option can select elective courses from STAT 525, 544, and appropriate topics courses in biostatistics theory and methods. The biostatistics special topics courses are STAT 509 Design and Analysis of Clinical Trials, and STAT 507 Epidemiologic Research Methods.

In addition, fellowships and/or research assistantship funding may be available through research projects from the Department of Public Health Sciences at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and may be requested for the final years of the Ph.D. program. Typically, the student interested in this option will select a thesis advisor from the faculty with joint appointments in Statistics and Biostatistics, and would spend the last year or two (including summers) at the Department of Public Health Sciences.
