Asst/Assoc Prof opening in Biometry at Univ. of Arizona



The University of Arizona invites applications for an academic-year appointment in Biometry at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, housed in the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (ABE), beginning August 2008. The successful candidate will teach, perform scholarly research, and provide academic service in support of the Department and the Graduate Interdisciplinary Program in Statistics (SGIDP), associated with the University's BIO5 Institute for Collaborative Bioresearch (http://www.bio5.org/). Duties also include service as an advisor/mentor to undergraduate and graduate students in the Department, and direction of M.S. and Ph.D. level statistics students in the GIDP. Target areas of research interest that support both the SGIDP and ABE in these endeavors include: statistical computing, quantitative modeling, statistical experiment design, remote sensing/geographic information systems (GIS), and bioinformatics. A Ph.D. in Statistics or a related field is required; it is desirable for the candidate to have earned a B.S. or M.S. degree in engineering. Women and minorities are especially encouraged to apply.
