Problem(s) of the Day

Fact: The best way to prepare to work problems (on quizzes, tests, etc.) is by working problems. I also believe that working problems is one of the best--if not the best--way to learn material.

Therefore, after some days' lectures I'll post a problem or two dealing with the material covered in lecture that day. I may also give answers, but I won't give full solutions. For solutions, you'll need to come to lectures.

Due to obvious time constraints, I'll present solutions quickly when class begins; you may not be able to keep up if you haven't already looked at the problems. Thus, to get the full benefit of these problems, you should read and attempt them before coming to class.

These problems are different from homework in at least two ways. First, these problems are not required and there is no grade for doing them. Second, I will go through these problems in lectures, something I cannot do for each homework problem.
