Statistics 200 Honors: Elementary Statistics, Fall 2008

Stat 200 (Honors) is an introductory-level statistics course that covers elementary statistical ideas. Some of the topics covered are frequency distributions, probability, binomial and normal distributions, confidence intervals and hypothesis testing, linear regression, correlation, analysis of variance, and inference for categorical data.

What makes this an honors course: I will cover material in a different order and will emphasize different topics, often going beyond the level of material covered in the textbook. I may also assign readings that go beyond the textbook.

Note: This is a 4 credit course and we cover a lot of material through the semester. Students are generally expected to read and do homework problems ahead of lecture. This is in keeping with the pace and style of the Stat 200 course (the non-honors sections) though the lectures in the honors class will tend to be much more interactive due to the small class size.
