Excursions

Each of the excursions listed below will take place with a private bus and will have a private guide. Each requires a minimum of 19 participants; if the minimum is not met the excursion will take place but will be combined with people outside the conference. These excursions are meant to take place on Wednesday afternoon or the weekend following the conference. (Guests can opt for other days as well.) Lyttos Travel Agency will have a desk at Knossos Royal Village 2 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the afternoon to take sign-ups for these excursions. They can also help with car and bike rentals.

A. Knossos Museum Half day (apprx 5 hrs) - Euro 27.88 + entrance fees Euro 10.27 per person

B. Phaestos-Gortys-Matala , (09.00 to 18.00 hrs apprx) Full day - Euro 34.63 + entrance fees Euro 7.34 per person

C. Lassithi Plateau (a.m or p.m 5 hrs apprx) Half day - Euro 27.88 + entrance to the cave Euro 2.35 per person

D. Samaria Gorge - Long way (to walk the Gorge) (06.30 - 19.45 hrs apprx) Full Day Euro 45.49 + entrance fees 3.52 + boat fare 4.40 per person

E. Spinalonga Boat trip - with BBQ (08.30 - 17.30 hrs apprx) Full Day Euro 41.97 + entrance fees to the island 1.47 These price includes the boat and the BBQ.

F. Rethymno-Chania (08.30 - 19.00 hrs apprx). Full day - Euro 44.02

Cruise to Santorini

Santorini is a unique island with great geological and archaeological interest. (It is reputed to be the lost Atlantis with evidence of the violent earthquake that sank the middle part of the island still clearly visible.) Cruises to Santorini depart from Heraklion every Monday/Wednesday/Friday morning. The price of Euro 68 includes breakfast and dinner on the boat. Drinks and excursions within the island are extra. It is possible to take this cruise other days as well (Tuesday/Saturday from Rethymno and Sunday from St. Nicholas) with extra charge for transport to these farther ports.
