Text: An Introduction to Mathematical Statistics and Its Applications, 2nd ed. by R.J. Larsen and M.L. Marx
Coverage: As much as possible from Chapters 5-13
Homework: Problems from the text will be assigned throughout the week and are due each Wednesday. Only 2-3 randomly selected problems will be graded on a scale of 0-10 points each. To receive credit, the solutions must be legible and organized. Homework is due by the end of class on each Wednesday. There will be a 20% penalty for each assignment handed in after that time. A copy of the solutions will be placed on reserve in the Mathematics Library (109 McAllister) about one day after the assignment is collected. No homework will be accepted after the solutions have been placed on reserve.
Exams: There are 3 in-class exams - tentatively scheduled for February 6, March 6, and April 10 - and a comprehensive final exam. The dates for the in-class exams may be changed at my discretion. Any changes will be announced in class. All exams are closed book but you are allowed one sheet (8.5x11 in) of notes.
Grading: The point distribution is:
| Homework | 100 points |
| Exams | 100 points each |
| Final Exam | 200 points |
| Total | 600 points |
| Percent | 90-100 | 80-89 | 70-79 | 60-69 | 0-59 |
| Grade | A | B | C | D | F |
Academic Integrity: The university policy on academic integrity, covering cheating and other acts of academic dishonesty, given in Section 49-20 of the Student Guide on Policy and Rules of the University, will be adhered to in this course.
