Welcome to Stat 462! Stat 462 is an applied regression course that has been designed to serve both upper level undergraduate students and graduate students in majors other than statistics. Stat 501 is also an applied regression course that has been designed to serve graduate students in majors other than statistics. Stat 501 and Stat 462 are very similar courses, since both courses use the same textbook. Stat 501 may be taught at a slightly faster pace. Stat 511 is a regression course for graduate students in statistics. This course is designed to cover Chapters 1-11 of the textbook. If time permits, additional topics may be discussed. This course will extensively cover simple linear regression, multiple regression, polynomial regression, indicator-variable regression, and the selection of an appropriate regression model. Some time will also be spent on correlation, nonparametric regression, regression diagnostics, and logistic regression. In general, formulas will not be derived and the matrix approach to regression will not be strongly stressed.
