Probability and Statistics for Engineers
and Scientists by Walpole, Myers, and Myers. Portions of Chapter
1-6, 8-13 will be covered..
DESCRIPTION:
The course is an introduction to basic
concepts of statistics for students in scientific disciplines. The courses
starts with a brief introduction to the concepts of probability, random
variables, and probability distributions including the binomial and normal
distributions. Most of the course will be devoted to the concepts and methods
of statistical analysis. Statistical topics include estimation of population
characteristics, testing hypotheses, the comparison of groups, and building
prediction models. . Minitab for Windows, will be used, but no prior experience
with that program is required. |
